Since I discovered this gem, I’ve been enjoying peas and rice, oxtail stew, curry meat patties, cod fish bites, jerk chicken, rum cake and ginger beer. As well as nutritious main courses and hot snack foods, Ruth’s offers an exciting range of home-made alcohol-free beverages and rare brand name drinks. Try her ginger beer or sorrel. This is a no-frills cafeteria style restaurant that only has a few tables. The room is basic but has friendly, community vibe. If you want more elegant plating or seats for a large group, just order your food to go — its ready to go when you get there. For me this is a real taste of my Caribbean childhood — and the best cuisine on the planet!
